Another motif from my ongoing landscape series. This is Port Penrhyn in the city of Bangor in Wales. It's not a real marina but an old harbour from the days of Welsh slate mining days. Now it's where sport sailing boats are anchored and waiting for someone to take them onto a trip along the Menai Strait, past Puffin Island and into the open Irish Sea. Just looking at it from Bangor Pier, the view pictured in the painting, gives a longing to join them on their journeys.

On a personal note: Wales and especially Bangor will always have a special place in my heart. It's where my uncle Stan had his sailing school, and it's from where we took off to sailing trips along the British west coast. Short ones to Beaumaris, but also longer ones to the Isle of Man. He sadly passed away years ago. But I return here regularly and remember those childhood days
